New Commissioners to Oversee DHS
Governor Fallin is appointing a former prosecutor and a local businessman to the commission overseeing the Department of Human Services.
Oklahoma City Businessman Brad Yarbrough and former Oklahoma County District Attorney Wes Lane are tapped to be on the DHS Commission.
Governor Fallin says the agency needs strict oversight, but she also has great respect for the people who work in the department.
“I know that it’s not an easy job because there are huge caseloads, very challenging circumstances with our children and our families, and of course they’ve been faced with budget cuts.”
DHS has come under fire recently in the death of Serenity Deal who died after she was placed in the custody of her father who is accused in her murder.
Lane will replace a commissioner whose term is expiring while Yarbrough is replacing one who resigned.
