The Oklahoma Virtual Library, a library consortium, received a $100,000 grant from the Oklahoma Department of Libraries. Adult services librarian at the Stillwater Public Library Scott Freeman says they are excited about increasing their available titles.
We will have the first $90,000 to spend between now and the end of September,” Freeman said. “So we are expecting our titles to increase threefold here over the next couple of months.”
Freeman said they are looking to add a music collection that members could download.
“It would be protected just like our eBooks and audiobooks are,” Freeman said. “You would check it out for a period of time, and after that period of time it would no longer be available to you.”
As of next month, the consortium will include 18 libraries, with more looking to join. To use the Oklahoma Virtual Library you must download the free software for your device and be a cardholder of one of the libraries.
