Oklahoma is coping with heat advisories and excessive heat warnings.

Meteorologists expect Oklahoma’s high temperatures all week long to reach into the triple digits with heat indices climbing to 110 or higher.

Western Oklahoma cattle farmer John Zerby says he and his fellow ranchers are trying to get work done early in the day when temperatures are just in the lower 80s.

“People try to stay out of this heat as much as they can, but when you got cattle out there they’ve got to have water because they can’t survive if we don’t have water for them.”

The heat wave is already adding to an extensive drought in western Oklahoma which has dried up lake beds and creeks.

Health officials are urging extreme caution for anyone who has to work outside this week.
