Senate to Decide Time Limit on Task Forces

The full Senate is getting legislation which would crack down on task forces and advisory boards.
House Bill 2319 which passed unanimously out of the Senate General Government Committee would put a three year time limit for task forces and advisory boards to meet or be disbanded.
Senate Author Anthony Sykes says there’s no reason to have some of these entities on the books.
“You go back decades ago and there are technically task forces that are still open and can still meet that should have expired a long time ago. So, it’s somewhat of a house keeping thing and also in a way a personal responsibility issue.”
The Newcastle Republican says he and the House Author are also hoping to learn just how many task forces and boards are still in existence.
If the Senate passes the measure as is, it will head to the governor’s desk for his signature.
