OK Supreme Court Denies Bid to Review Bribery Case

Chambers of Commerce across Oklahoma are celebrating a decision by the State Supreme Court.

The State Supreme Court decided against reviewing a 1989 bribery case brought up by Corporation Commissioner Bob Anthony.

Anthony says he asked the court to review the case of former Commissioner Bob Hoskins who signed an AT&T rate case for which it was later determined he had been bribed.

“There’s only two signatures and one of them is bribed, and that does not constitute a majority as required in article 9, section 18-A of the constitution.”

He says the bid was about ensuring honesty in government, but the State Chamber says Anthony’s actions hurt the state’s reputation for good business.

Chamber President Dick Rush says this is the same bid Anthony made in 2003 and twice before that.

“Respectfully request that Commissioner Anthony live up to his past commitment to drop these unwarranted and wasteful attempts to revisit an issue that was resolved nearly 20 years ago.”

Anthony says he doesn’t plan any further appeals even though his question wasn’t addressed.
