The State Chamber names a former legislator to become the new CEO and President to replace Dick Rush.

Former Representative Fred Morgan who served in the legislature from 1994 to 2006 is taking over for Dick Rush who ran the State Chamber for 23 years.

The former Republican lawmaker says he’s dedicated to working with both sides of the aisle.

“I’ve been able to work with democrats of all stripes: liberal Democrats, Republicans, conservative Republicans. This is a non-partisan organization. This is about business and business advocacy.”

Morgan says these are challenging times for Oklahoma, but the future is bright.

“I think we’re going to see a lot of opportunities in this current recession and downturn in the economy to build upon and be poised to come out of the recession that we’re currently under, to be a prime competitor for interstate and in state businesses and make more jobs in this economy.”

He was serving as senior policy advisor for Senate President Pro Tem Glenn Coffee.

In a press release, Coffee announced that former Senator Jim Williamson of Tulsa would be taking Morgan’s place.
