Children’s Cabinet Bill to be Reintroduced

A State Senator is reintroducing legislation to create a Children’s Cabinet to focus on the issue of Oklahoma’s youth.

Senator Jay Paul Gumm wants to bring back legislation which would set up a Children’s Cabinet in the state.

The Durant Democrat says Senate Bill 1276 would bring together people and policies that are the best for the state’s youngest.

The Cabinet would be modeled after those in other states bringing 15 top ranking officials whose agencies have an interest in children’s policies.

Gumm’s legislation passed the Senate unanimously but failed to get a hearing in the House last session.
