Two major non-profit health organizations helping the uninsured and underinsured are joining forces to create one new group.

Variety Heath Center and Oklahoma Community Health Services are merging to create Variety Care to increase the capacity of patients with affordable high-quality health care.

Lieutenant Governor Jari Askins says this merger allows for better coverage of those Oklahomans most in need.

Variety Care which gets funding through United Way is expected to help 40,000 patients a year in Oklahoma City, Fort Cobb and Tipton.

The organization will provide prenatal care, family planning, vision, dental, counseling and prescription help as well as general health care.
