Three Americans Share Nobel Medicine Prize

The 2009 Nobel Prize in medicine has been awarded to Americans Elizabeth Blackburn, Carol Greider and Jack Szostak.

The Karolinska Institute says the trio was honored for research that has implications for cancer and aging.

The award, announced Monday, includes a $1.4 million purse, a diploma and an invitation to the prize ceremonies in Stockholm on Dec. 10. Copyright 2009 The Associated Press
