Langston increases security after shooting

Security is being tightened and there’s a 30-day moratorium on social activities at Langston University following a campus shooting.

School officials say that within 30 days the campus will have two 24-hour security checkpoints, all vehicles will be subject to search and drivers must show identification.

An electronic gate will be added at an apartment complex across the street from the university. And more security cameras will be installed at the other university apartments and will be monitored at the Langston police station.

Five people were hospitalized and one man arrested after the shooting Sunday night following a party at the school gymnasium. Their conditions were not available.

The university says none of the six are Langston students.
